Swatch Watch: Five Avon Ultra Color Rich Brilliance Lipsticks-Swatches & Review

Review by Poorna

Hello! When I checked out the Avon brochure last month, I was thinking of getting a few colors from them. There is a brand new series of lipsticks that has come up from Avon, its their official Diwali launch, and the range is called the Ultra Color Rich Brilliance lipsticks. The specialty of this particular series is the complete range of lipsticks suited for dark to fair skin tones of India. They are super amazing shades, and I am going to put up swatches for five of them.

These super cute testers are the ones I picked up from my friendly Avon distributor. The lippies are 429/- (original price) but you may buy them for 249/- through this brochure and the next. I got all five of these to gift my family and friends (It was Durga Puja, after all!) and my sweet distributor gave me the testers to keep with me.

These contain SPF 15 and Clover Honey to protect your lips. From Left to Right, the colors are as follows –

Berry Glitz

Pink Paparazzi

Aurora Rose

Gilded Velvet

Sienna Sparkle
All five shades are lovely shimmery shades with tiny micro-glitters in them that actually look very nice, especially in the night. The color Berry Glitz and Sienna Sparkle, are my favorites for now, and I am picking up full sized versions of both.
Left: Berry Glitz, Right: Pink Paparazzi. (In natural light)

While Berry Glitz is a beautiful shade of pink with tiny micro glitters, it is more on the berry side while Pink Paparazzi is more on the fuchsia direction. Berry glitz is sheerer than Pink Paparazzi, and both colors last about 2 hours on my lips before starting to fade, if I do not eat or drink. If I do, they are gone.

Left: Aurora Rose, Center: Gilded Velvet, Right: Sienna Sparkle

Aurora Rose is a beautiful shade of sheer pink going towards red, and it is perfect for fair to wheat and slightly darker skin. I loved Gilded Velvet, a color that would be loved by any brown lover, and it is not over the top, which is a blessing. Sienna Sparkle, is my favorite, a coral-orange semi-sheer color which is not over the top at all and looks brilliant any time. After a long time Avon has come up with a range which I can really invest in. I am also looking at the rest of the shades.

Even in flash the colors look good.

I have been wearing the colors on and off, and the only issue I have is the sparkles which sometimes settle on my lip lines. Besides that, these are incredibly hydrating and great, wearable. They are very hydrating, and they have not bled on my lips (which is a tough feat).

Pros:

  • Great colors
  • Hydrates my lips
  • Contains SPF 15
  • Economic
  • Avon does not do animal testing
  • Does not bleed on my lips

Cons:

  • Sparkles settle on my lip lines
  • Fades unevenly

Verdict: 3.75/5

Do let me know how you found the lipstick swatches. Which one is your favorite?

ETM Edit* I wish these were sans shimmer, Poorna. Loved every single shade but Berry Glitz and Pink Paparazzi are my favotrite. <3

  1. Too much shimmer , no?? Even I like my lipsticks w/o shimmer…But then I guess with these you can skip the gloss , so yup, in a way they’re good…I like Pink Paparazzi the most :)

    • Pink Paparazzi is now rapidly becoming my go-to lippy for the winters, especially during the evenings. And yeah, these are hydrating enough to not need a gloss.
