Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick “Fawn”: Swatch and Review

Review by Sharmistha

Hellloooo Sweeties..!!!
Well, I will be the only person in this whole world who haven’t tried the much raved about BB Cream.. Yeshh..!!! I Know you all might get shocked to hear this.. 😀 Recently Garnier has launched a BB Cream. I actually went through all reviews on that but never thought of buying even though it’s way too cheap.

However, this BB Stick has to come in my stash and it came… Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy..!!!!! They have launched this in a Stick form recently. They already have one in Liquid. So I think Maybelline has come up with an idea for everyone. Check more about the product below.

What Company Claims for the Product:

Flawless, radiant skin + 12hr shine control + 8 benefits in just 1 step!

1. Mineral clay formula guarantees 12hr shine control.

2. Contains Salicylic acid to manage combination & oily skin.

3. Provides a soft, matte and radiant finish.

4. Sweat-resistant and sebum – resistant formula leaves skin fresh all day.

5. Hides appearance of pores & imperfection.

6. Contains SPF 21/PA+++ that protects skin from sun damage.

7. Instantly evens skin tone.

8. Provides a power-light feel on skin
Shades:Available in 2 Shades. “Fawn” for Darker Skin tones and “Radiance” for Fair Skin tone.

Price:Rs.250/- each for 10 Gms.

Packaging: As the name claims, It is a Stick, which comes in twist-able bullet, like a Lipstick. I feel the packaging is very simple and hygienic.  It can be easily carried in bag for anytime use. Very much Travel Friendly. The Quantity of the stick is fair enough and it will last long. Both the shades are well pigmented.
My take on the Product:
As I said earlier, BB Creams are raved about products, but I actually never tried any of them. I actually don’t know why I am now trying this. It’s just one of my random purchases. I first saw this at Medplusbeauty but wasn’t sure about the shades so didn’t purchase. I actually don’t rely on shade reference given on websites…when i am buying Compact, Concealer or Foundation. I went to store on last weekend for some shopping with my friend Poorna, apni ETM ki “Writer of the Month”, (P.S- I was on a “SHOPPING BAN” for last 30 Days.. 😀 ) purchased this along with Maybelline 14 Hrs Lippie. Before the purchase, as usual I swatched both the shades on my hand. “Radiance” shade through packaging looked perfect for my skin tone but when i applied on my hands and blended it looked very ashy and artificial and then came “Fawn”. When I applied this it just melted into my skin tone. It looked more natural in comparision to “Radiance”. I think Maybelline should have given more option for shades. Anyways, I choose “Fawn”.
So I came home and tried this on my face… it looked so dark that I started feeling bad for choosing the  wrong shade, but Oh Boy..!!!! when I blended it on my face it just melted into my skin tone and I just loved it.It is very easy to apply. Just dab on the skin, and blend with your fingers. You don’t need any specific brush for this..and Voila..!!!! U r Ready.. 😀
Coverage: It just blends like dream. The texture is so soft. It hides my ugly acne scars, blemishes on my forehead and cheeks, under eye dark circles, some uneven skin tone. Though it does not cover big pimples,  I love the way this makes my face look Flawless and smooth.
I personally feel it is actually good to conceal the problem area like severe dark circles.I have developed some dark circles recently and it just covers them really well. So for me it acts as a good Concealer as well. One more thing, I have a habit of applying compact over any liquid base. I apply the same for this too as it helps me to control oil and gives matte look to my skin.
This product is meant for sensitive combination and Oily skin types as it contains Salicylic acid which helps to manage pimples and oiliness. It has SPF 21 so if you forget applying sunscreen moisturizer, this can save you from Mr. Sun.. 😛 😀 I don’t know whether it will suit Dry skin persons or not.
Staying Power:Well it guarantees for 12 Hrs shine control, but on me it stays about 7-8 hours. I think it will survive in any weather. Kolkata is getting hotter now a days and my face gets sweaty very fast still it hasn’t melted. It does not make you look artificial. Overall a fantastic product at such a cheap price which covers all imperfection.
Pros:
  • Packaging is cute and travel Friendly.
  • Easy to use.
  • Hides imperfection of skin like dark circles, blemishes, redness, scars, pores etc.
  • Suitable for Every skin Types especially Acne Prone Skin.
  • Act as a very good Orange Concealer.
  • Contains Spf 21.
  • Even out the Skin Tone.
  • Doesn’t melt down.
  • Staying power is good.
Cons:
  • Only 2 shades available ( I think this is biggest con of this product :-/ >_<)
  • May not suit Dry Skin.
  • Could not cover Big Pimples.
Ratings:  4 / 5 (Deducting marks for only 2 shades options)
Do I Recommend: Yes of course. One should definitely give it a shot. I will recommend this to everyone.
ETM Edit* I have been reading a lot of good stuff about this one from everybody Sharmi. 🙂 Sounds like a perfect solution for working people. As usual Maybelline has kept the pricing really good. Definitely worth a try for people with combination and oily skin. Hope they launch more shades soon.
