Writing reviews can get a little boring at times but when it comes to my favorite products, I don’t mind at all. I can go on and on about those few and this blush comes under that category. It has replaced my favorite Rosa Pesca and Hibiscus both to acquire the first position in my blush stash. ^_^ I can not get enough of it and I keep reaching out for this one only ever since I used it for the first time. 🙂
Presenting the cult favorite of many… MAC Matte Blush “Frankly Scarlet“.
MAC describes it as a vivid rose red .
It official now. I am in love! <3 MAC does its Red so so beautifully that you always fall in love with them. be it a lipstick or a gloss or a blush! I have a feeling I am going to hit the pan with this one. I love it that much. 😀
It comes in a typical black round packaging without any mirror or brush.you can see the shade from the transparent top lid so not an issue If you have too many of these MAC blushes. If in case you have too many , then I envy you. 😛
The shade is the most beautiful red with pink undertone…or as MAC would call it a beautiful vivid rose red. 🙂 Somehow this never looked scary to me. In fact the first time I swatched it at the store in Mumbai, this was the only blush I got attracted to from the display. Do not know why I skipped it that time. I must be on a self imposed ban I am sure. >.< Anyways I kept asking the Hyderabad store whenever I was there and the OOS reply would piss me off. Thankfully I got it few weeks back and I am in peace now. O:)
It totally brightens up my face in a dull day. The rosy flush it gives is un-matchable. It brings out the beauty in any complexion in my opinion. I wouldn’t mind using it every single day. The best thing is it goes with most colors in your outfit or makeup except for stark bold oranges/corals. So you can use it a lot more than you think is possible. 🙂
The texture is very soft matte and the powder is finely milled so that it does not come out patchy on the skin. It blends evenly and sets like a second skin to you.
It is intensely pigmented. One swirl of the brush would give you those painted clown cheeks for sure. So you have to be careful with this one. by careful I mean, swirl the brush, tap the extra product on your clean hand/palm and then use the brush with a light hand and keep on blending till you get the desired effect.
I think the matte blushes have a similar thing common in MAC. The more you blend, the more pigmented and vivid the end result is. I have seen the same thing with my other matte blush “Melba” as well. So do not ever pack more on your cheek unless you have blended it well and are not satisfied with the pigmentation…which would be a rare thing I feel.
If at all you feel you went overboard with it or any pigmented blush for that matter, a quick tip would be to get some compact or loose powder on a powder brush and use it to blend the shade. 😉
It stays on forever. 😀 I have worn it for 8-9 hours and it still looks fresh at the end of the day. It fades evenly so you just don’t have to care for the color at all.
My Rating: 5 out of 5
My Recommendation: Do I need to tell you this. Of course its a yes. Just go and pick this up. you will not regret this. A little practice and you won’t ever be afraid of this beautiful red blush…:)
