MAC Retro Lipstick: Swatch, Review And LOTD

Review by Agnirupa
Heellloo my ETM pretties <3
As promised am back too soon. ;P *too bad for those who don’t like my reviews ;)* This particular lipstick today was never really one of those shades which I had tried at the store or was even remotely interested in ever, but all at once I saw it looking oh-so beautiful on a blogger friend and have loved it ever since. πŸ˜€ It is not very hyped or raved about except perhaps on Indian blogs and you will know the reason instantly when you see the pics ! Presenting MAC Retro!

What MAC Says:

MAC describes this as a muted peachy pink brownΒ in satin finish πŸ™‚
Price: 990 INR for 3gm *permanent range*

My take on the product:

The lipstick comes in the regular classic MAC packaging with a tight click cap which makes it easy to carry around. πŸ™‚

The finish is satin which in spite of being labelled as *dry* by many ladies remains my most favorite finish after lustres. πŸ˜€ It delivers enough color like the mattes without being over glossy or too dry πŸ™‚Β *puurrfect*

The pigmentation is excellent and one swipe is enough to get the bullet color on the lips. *_*

The lipstick is light, smooth and easy to apply on lips. πŸ™‚Β It is better to exfoliate your lips beforehand otherwise it may emphasize the dry patches a bit!

The color is oh so perfect for our complexions πŸ˜€ Though it looks brick brown and a tad boring in the bullet, *strictly my opinion :P* it is extremely misleading as it translates into a lovely peachy brick shade on the lips which is another of those classics to polish up any lookΒ any dayΒ without ever looking dramatic or OTT. πŸ™‚ Medium complexioned ladies definitely check it out!

Being a satin finish it lasts a really good amount of time on my lips and I don’t have to worry much about touching up before at least 5 hours with chat and snacks in between * could you think I would live without food for 5 hrs O_O*

The pros:

  • Classy travel friendly MAC packaging πŸ™‚
  • The texture is light, smooth and easily applicable without any tugging.
  • Great pigmentation and it just takes a single swipe to get the actual color on lips!
  • The color retro is a lovely universally flattering peachy brick shade which everyone could carry off amazingly <3
  • It lasts for a really long time on my lips easily through 5 hours without any touch ups!
  • Does not dry out lips at all *note- I do not have dry lips though!*
  • Yummy MAC signature vanilla ^_^ * I want a perfume :x*

The cons:

  • Being a satin finish it does have a slight tendency to emphasize the dry patches or fine lines of lips if the lips are not exfoliated or moisturised 😐
My rating: 4/5 πŸ™‚

Do I recommend?

Well frankly the color Retro is definitely not my *most favorite* or *can’t live without color* its not. πŸ˜› I am not a hypocrite so can’t shout and rave just because I am reviewing this today! I will stand by what I said in my review- retro is a muted, lovely peachy brick color which actually flatters medium-dusky complexions way more than light ones! * I don’t really like it on myself :(* but I have seen so many olive skinned beauties absolutely rocking it! *jealous :(* It is a shade which can be worn without weighing pros and cons, a shade that can be randomly stashed in your bag for emergencies and acute lipstick crisis when you have forgotten your original lipstick and just want some color on your lips to make you look and feel alive

While you guys get even more confused and frustrated in this MACΒ  madness I promise to be back for more real soon πŸ˜‰ Till then bu-byee and love ya! <3

ETM Edit* I agree with you 100%. πŸ™‚ This shade looks amazing on medium-dusky beauties. I have so many similar shades that I never gave it a try and I don’t regret. πŸ˜› Beautiful lip swatches as always. ^_^
