So the official MAC month on ETM begins today and I would like to review one of my favorite lipsticks to kick start the fun. 🙂 MAC has a lot of neutrals in its permanent range of lipsticks in various finishes. Cream in your coffee
, Half n half
, Taupe, Patisserie,
to name a few. I know I missed many but then I can not go on naming all of them here. So let’s focus back on the product of interest. MAC Satin Lipstick Mocha
Price: INR 990/-
MAC describes Mocha as a peachy yellow brown. I couldn’t agree more.
My Experience with MAC Mocha Lipstick:
The day I picked up Mocha, I was exhausted after trying out 2-3 shades of foundation and no shade was apt for my complexion. All of them made me look quite yellow and muddy. So to brighten up my mood I started swatching their lipsticks and without pondering much picked this one up in 5 mins and left the store. To be honest I did not like it much on me when I tried it at my home for the first time. I have this habit of seeing myself in bright bold shades so it made me look quite dull I felt. Also I was a lot tanned at that time, so it kind of was on a borderline of washing me out. I kept it in my lipstick box and it is only recently that I started wearing it regularly and I must say I underestimated this beauty.
Among-st the texture I have used from MAC, satin finish is one of my favorites. Mainly because it does not bleed and secondly because it has an amazing satin finish on lips. Not glossy, not matte. It sits on your lips very comfortably and leaves behind the same tint after around 4-5 hours of wear. Considering how subtle this shade Mocha is, the staying power is actually great.
The color Mocha as described by MAC is a peachy yellow brown. On my skin tone it looks more of a peach with a hint of brown. If you have a lighter skin tone then it may bring out the brown on you more.
Having said that MAC Mocha is not a color every Indian can sport, mainly because it tends to wash out anyone above NC 40. If you really really like the color then you will have to work on your face ( I mean a good base to hide any imperfections) before wearing this one. It works best when you have a clean canvas to work on, though people with lighter skin tone can still manage without much work.
The pigmentation is just great. By far the best from the lipsticks I have tried from MAC. Mocha is loaded with color and just one swipe packs the lips with enough color to hide any kind of pigmentation. However it feels a little heavy on lips compared to other lipsticks I have used.

My Rating: 4.85 out of 5
My Recommendation: If you like neutral lip colors that are there and still not there, do give MAC Mocha a try. The satin finish from MAC is amazing, creamy and non-drying. Mocha lasts for around 5 hrs with food and drink and leaves behind a tint that stays on for 2 more hours. The peachy tone in MAC Mocha works wonderfully well on me and I am sure It would on anyone above NC 40. I would certainly recommend it.
