Review by Poorna
MAC has been my go-to brand for a long time when it comes to face makeup. This brand has provided me with perfect coverage every time I want to hide dark circles and make sure my makeup looks fresh. The problem is, I have very dark under-eye circles, thanks to the years spent wearing a pair of heavy-powered glasses, and I need to use concealer. Although my skin tone hovers between NC 42-43, as the shadows border towards black I generally use NC 45 in the concealer department. When I first went to the MUA, she told me to use NC 45 under my foundation. Apply it first, and then put on my foundation. That way it would be blended in well, and I would not look like I had permanent raccoon eyes.
MAC Claims:Liquid camouflage for the skin. Texture-free, virtually invisible. Comes in a tube. Blends in. Brightens and lightens dark areas, erases spots, evens-out skin tones. Makes skin flaw-free. Use pre-foundation, or on its own. Don’t reveal it, conceal it!
Quantity: 10 ml.
I have not used select cover before – it was always the Studiofix concealer for me. However, it was not doing its job properly, so when I finished it, I decided to take a chance and go for something else. Even before I could do anything, the MUA brought forward the select cover up and applied it under my eyes, then carefully patted it around the area before evening it out with a liquid foundation. It looked so natural under the lights that I was pretty much charmed, but I still went out and checked, and it still looked great. Overjoyed, I came back, purchased it, and left.
Select Cover Up Concealer comes in a tube form with a thin nozzle. I love that! I hated dipping my brush into the concealer every time I had to use it, and this way, I can actually keep everything hygienic.
Its consistency is creamy liquid, which makes it perfect for spreading out, and you can use your fingers to blend it in and pat it down or use a concealer brush. I use a concealer brush from Bare Essentials to do the same.
It effectively covers my dark circles and also the uneven skin tone around my mouth. I use it even before I use my foundation, right after I have used my face primer. It blends like a dream and stays put till I remove it.
Application on my eyes!

The lasting power is very impressive. I have worn it around 11 a.m. and it stayed put till I returned home, around 10 p.m. on a humid day when I was out with buddies all day. It does not break me out, and can be effectively layered to provide medium to opaque coverage. The orange tones in it make my dark circles reduce to a huge extent, and I thank the MUA for recommending this to me every day. So definitely something I am very happy with at present. My only issue is that I have to use this under foundation, since on its own this is too dark on my skin. I might also purchase a lighter colored concealer and wear it solo under my eyes, without foundation, if I can.
- Blends easily
- Gives the right coverage
- Does not break me out
- Long lasting
- Needs to be worn under a foundation
The word is satisfied. I love this concealer and would repurchase in a flash.
ETM Edit* Looks quite effective Poorna. I just got the studio fix one and I love it. 🙂 This totally reminds me of the all about eyes concealer from Clinique. Somehow I am not able to use my clinique concealer much because of the creamy consistency. It needs more time than I can spare. 😛 Lovely review and demo. 🙂
