MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick: Swatch, Review And LOTD

Well, It is still not launched here in India and am not sure whether in future it is gonna be or not. This is a limited edition Lipstick.  I have got this from a Facebook page called Ordermakeup Uk. I had to shell out a lot of amount for this, Most of the time any LE MAC lipstick charge for Rs. 1100- 1300/- but I had to buy this baby for Rs.1650/- (Including Shipping). And I must admit this is my costliest lipstick purchase of mine till date 🙁 Thankfully it was a gift for me.. 😀 (sssssshhhhhhhh dats a Secret!!!! )

What MAC Cosmetics says:

Colour plus texture for the lips that made M·A·C famous. A trio of limited-edition shades created by Rihanna, all in Retro Matte finishes – the cool red of RiRi Woo.
Price: $15 (Approx. INR 930) which means the price Mac lipsticks are usually sold. i. e INR 990/-
Packaging: Well when I saw online the pictures this collection, I was intrigued by their packaging, Metallic Rose Gold and Rihanna’s Signatures inscribed on that, I was bowled over. O:) ^_^ However I am not a fan of Rihanna.. :-/ Later when I did lot of Research ( Yesss..!!!!!!  MAC is the only brand which I literally study..!!!! and I have gathered a little gyaan on that.. 😛 ) I found out that those are samples, not for sale. 😐 Also now MAC will be launching RiRi Fall Hearts Collection 2013 and in that I saw the same Rose Gold Packaging. So am little confused on that. I am little disappointed packaging wise as I has expected it come in the metallic rose gold packaging. 🙁

Now coming to what I got, I got the normal packaging with the regular MAC silver bullet with it’s signature Vanilla Fragrance.. but oh boy!!! The lipstick has Rihanna’s signature engraved on it and I can spend an entire day admiring it. This is such a beauty, I don’t want to finish it up. Well till date I have never finished any lipstick.. 😛 😀

My Experience: As mentioned above MAC describes it cool red with retro matte finish. This is very much similar to famous Ruby Woo shade. In fact RiRi Woo is inspired from Ruby Woo. I have Ruby Woo and RiRi Woo both. Now you will ask what is a difference? Yes, there is some. RiRi Woo is more intense then Ruby Woo. RiRi Woo is dark and the undertone is the main difference between the two. If you are a fan of Ruby Woo then I am sure you will be fan of this too.The color is Classic Red..

The retro matte finish is a drying matte which means you will really have to tug on your lips to bring out the color. Thus I would recommend using a lip brush. Also lips need to be well exfoliated and moisturized before using such dry matte texture. This is my personal thought, but I find RiRi Woo to be less drying in comparison to Ruby woo. .

MAC does not need any special mention about pigmentation, one swipe will give you awesomely dark color on your lips which is why I am a fan of MAC Lipsticks. The staying power is excellent. Ruby Woo usually stays on my lips for 7-8 hours and RiRi Woo also stays for 7-8 hours on lips surviving a full meal. There is no uneven fading, it leaves a beautiful dark pink-red tint on my lips.

Pros:

  • A classic cool toned red
  • Matte finish
  • Much anticipated collection of MAC
  • Rihanna’s Signature etched on the lipstick
  • Classic vanilla fragrance.
  • Amazing pigmentation
  • Beyond the imagination staying power
Cons:

  • As a reader point of view I would say Availability. Personally I don’t have any cons for this baby 😀
My Ratings: 5/5 (Can’t be lesser  :D)
Do I Recommend: Well this is quite a difficult question to answer for me. Why? If you have Ruby woo then I would say stay happy with that. Both of them are similar but if you love limited edition lipsticks and moreover reds, then try to get it from abroad as in India the launch date is not announced yet.
BTW I am eyeing the RiRi Woo lipsglass and also Talk that Talk Lipstick from the RiRi Hearts collection.. 😀 ^_^
Little Trivia: I have read MAC RiRi Woo got sold out online in 4 Min at the time of its Launch.. 😀 This little interesting fact about the product actually made me to buy it. Yess! I am Crazy..!! 😀

ETM Edit* looks amazing on your lips Sharmi. 🙂 The swatches on hand look almost same to me but yes on lips I can see that it is a bit more intense and a little pinker than Ruby Woo. Well MAC shades are such that unless we try them on we can never know the hype surrounding it. I am happy with Ruby Woo but If I get a chance then I would definitely like to try it on my lips. Nice clicks. 🙂
