MAC Twig Lipstick : Swatch, Review And LOTD

MAC Twig Lipstick: Swatch, Review And LOTD

Hey everyone! I’ve been a silent reader of ETM for a couple of years now and I’m finally writing a review here.
Pinkish brown lipsticks. Oh, how we love them. They are the best kind of shade for Indian skin tones in my opinion. I somehow get attracted to them every time I buy a lipstick and I recently realised I have hoarded a lot of shades of the same colour! Yet, the one under the scanner now is quite special – my first MAC. Presenting MAC Twig Lipstick from the MAC satin range. 🙂

MAC Twig is described by MAC as a soft muted brownish pink. It is a beautiful pink with brown tones on me. It is one of those easy shades that can be worn just about anywhere and will add some freshness to your face without looking too obvious. This colour will suit a wide spectrum of skin tones – fair to dusky, all can pick it up without fear. It would look darker on fair skin tones, though. On medium to dusky ones MAC Twig is a lovely everyday colour.

The satin finish goes almost matte on lips, just with a slight sheen. It glides on easily (though I wouldn’t really call it creamy). The famous MAC vanilla fragrance is there, though you can’t really smell it unless you sniff the tube directly (to be honest, I found the fragrance a bit over hyped!).

The pigmentation is awesome and it goes on almost opaque in one light swipe. It does tend to feel dry after some time so if you have dry lips keep a lip balm at hand. I noticed some settling into lip lines as well. It will emphasize any dry and flaky skin on lips as well. However MAC Twig makes up for any flaws in the texture in its staying power – five hours straight, and more if you haven’t eaten in between. With really big meals, however, it fades completely. I like lipsticks that stay on for a long time so this really earns a lot of brownie points from me. It would have been perfect, though, if it left some tint or stain behind after fading.

MAC Twig Lipstick: LOTD

Pros:

  • Lovely shade that will suit all skintones
  • Application does not pose any problems
  • Good staying power
  • The finish is beautiful, especially for those who don’t much like glossy finishes but still don’t like matte textures

Cons:

  • Can get a bit drying after some time of wear
  • Settles into lip lines
My rating: 4.5 on 5 (Tempted to give it a full five but considering the cons above!)
Recommendation:
Do I need to say more? The shade Twig is awesome and will suit everyone, and the staying power and pigmentation leave no room for complaints either. Just make sure to prep your lips a little if you have dry lips and keep a lip balm or moisturising gloss with you. If you don’t mind the drying part, go for it!ETM Edit* Welcome to ETM Marianne. Must say beautiful pictures. MAC Twig has always been in my wishlist but I always get confused between Cosmo and this one. lovely LOTD as well. For my readers Marianne loves everything that has anything to do with words and languages. She is passionate about books and food, and makeup has joined the list since a couple of years. 🙂
