My take on MAC Chili:
Another lovely addition to my MAC lipstick collection is this bright shade, quite aptly named too, Chili. Not a love at first sight, but now possessing it, I think why didn’t I lay my eyes on this lovely color before. Nevertheless, here I am reviewing this beautiful color for you all. 🙂
Shade: Though MAC describes it as an orange-red, the color comes out more as an orange on most skin tones. Not a bright and in your face orange but a toned down burnt orange. It does have brown undertones still the orange comes out far more clearly than the slight brownish hint. In place of red I can say it gives a hint of terracotta red in some lighting. A shade that would suit all skin tones equally well and the toned down orange makes it more wearable during the day as well as night.
MAC Chili Swatch:
Texture: Although falling in the matte range of lipsticks, still MAC Chili is creamy enough to apply pretty easily and gives a slight glossy look in bright light. It is highly pigmented and a single swipe is enough. The shade doesn’t bleed or feather. It won’t settle in fine line while fading away. Still being matte in texture, you may require applying a lip balm at the end of the day. I have dry lips and I do feel my lips drier at the end of the day.
MAC Chili on my lips:
Staying power: The lipstick stays on for 5 hours on me with a full meal in between. The mild brownish orange stain left behind after some 3 hours also looks nice. It transfers little which is an added advantage.
Packaging: The standard matte black MAC casing without any color identification is sturdy and there are no chances of melting or breaking of the lipstick bullet inside.
Pros of MAC Chili Lipstick:
- A pretty toned down terracotta orange color for orange lovers out there
- Applies smoothly
- Highly pigmented
- Great staying power
- Does not bleed or feather.
- Available easily in all mac outlets.
- Universally flattering
Cons of MAC Chili Lipstick:
- Slightly drying
- High price
Recommendations:I would call Chili a true unsung hero from MAC. Such a lovely color which is universally flattering with a great texture and staying power, still not getting as much praise. A pretty orange for orange lovers out there. Do check MAC Chili out next time at the MAC outlet. 🙂
Review by Nids
[alert-note]I love such kinds of brown-orange based reds a lot Nids. I have a dupe for this with me, Avon UCR Butternut. Not an exact dupe , but very similar in all the aspects, color, pigmentation and look. Only major difference is that it is a bit more creamy. So girls who loved the shade, but not sure if you would want to splurge on it, get “Butternut”. MAC’s finish is obviously not comparable, but you wouldn’t regret getting this one from Avon. 🙂 BTW Nidsy, Chili looks super gorgeous on you. :* [/alert-note]
