Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Peach Review, Swatches & EOTD
I always wanted to learn basics of French and Spanish but my mom never allowed me saying you need to concentrate on your studies and nothing else. Okay. So I got my hands on the Laura Mercier Eye Basics (if not the language basics) and I am not really quite impressed of it. Read on to know why.
What Laura Mercier says about it:
A multi-tasking eye color/eye primer that camouflages imperfections and enhances makeup.
What it does:
Create the perfect canvas for your eyes. The sheer, creamy texture blends easily and smoothly, leaving a long-lasting semi-matte finish. The eyes are primed and imperfections and discolorations are covered, leaving lids smooth and even. Skin-friendly ingredients enhance this delicate skin, while botanicals soothe and vitamins A, E, and C provide anti-oxidant protection. Water-resistant and crease-proof, it contains natural clay, which prevents creasing.
What else you need to know:
Use as a primer, or alone to add a little color to your eyes. The brand Laura Mercier describes it as something that can be applied on both the eyelids as well as your under eye.

My Take on Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Peach
Well then Laura Mercier hello! whom are you kidding? Do you really expect us to apply that “stiffly drying and shimmery product” under the eyes? Have you not tested the product before making this statement, because this product creases and it creases badly and is very drying. I read it’s details and understood that it is an eye primer. I anyway wanted an eye primer for long and had MAC paint pot and NARS eye primer in mind, but any way couldn’t get them so I ordered for this one. Having heard so much about the brand and this being my first purchase from them.. I had like super high expectation from this product.
The day I got it I was like, oh finally I have it now and I quickly swatched it on my hand and oh I was so very impressed, completely ignorant to what I was going to face. 😐 Next I applied it to my eyes. For what happened next… read the cons, as it has no pros for me.
The product is housed in a glass tube and for a person like me that’s not a good idea. It has a doe foot applicator ( well that’s fine for me). It is so drying on my lids. 🙁 As I apply this it leaves a white looking cast or better to say a whitish peach cast. Difficult to blend. Seriously I could not see any evened-out of complexion/skin around the eyes. It just coats the under eye area with a weary patchy finish which is very difficult to blend. As soon as you apply a single dot from the doe foot applicator it starts to dry and makes blending very difficult. It just sits there where it is applied, and no kidding you really don’t want any thing that doesn’t blend well to be used as a part of your eye makeup. 😕 After all blending is the secret of a flawless eye look.
Frankly speaking my eye shadows show up and blend better on my bare skin. If your skin is super thin and soft like mine, then you might end up seeing creases or wrinkles just above the crease or socket of your eye after 10 to 15 minutes of application .
Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Peach Swatch
Pros of Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Peach
- The only thing that I am okay is that less is more in this case, so one bottle is going to last a good number of months.
- The doe foot applicator, it makes it really easy to apply the product.
Cons of Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Peach
- Very difficult to blend.
- Makes eye shadow difficult to blend on top of it.
- Has glitter particles.
- Stiffens my skin.
- Creases and also makes my eye shadows crease. The EOTD picture below was taken really soon after application, so there is not any noticeable creasing.
- Pricey for this kind of poor performance.
- It is made of a glass , so I have fears of breaking it.
