Purple Smokey Eyes Tutorial for Valentine’s Day!
Love is in the air. Or so we are assuming as Valentine’s Day is approaching fast. 😉 Soft pinks and purples are the colors of the love. But, we are going to pep up the soft shades a bit. In fact, more than a bit. I am sharing a very intense smoky purple eye look for your date night. This look is for my pretty ladies who are not scared to get their inner divas out on this valentine’s day.
So, lets get started with the tutorial.
Products used for the eye look:
- Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer
- ELF Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple
- Costal Scents Hot Pots in Deep Grape, Vibrant Plum, Orchid and Cloud White
- Wet N Wild Single Eye shadow in Panther
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Tornado
- Bourjois Khol & Contour eye pencil in Ultra Black
- Lorac Pro Mascara
- Real Techniques Shader Brush
- Mac 217 blending brush
- Sonia Kashuk Crease and Blending Brushes
- ELF Eye shadow Brush
Prep before the eye makeup:
- Be sure to start with a clean face.
- Apply a non-greasy eye cream to your lids and lower lashes. This will ensure that the fine lines are less prominent.
Purple Smokey Eyes Tutorial:
Step 1: Fill and define your eyebrows. Do not overfill them, as the eye makeup is already intense. Apply your favorite primer or a concealer on the lids and lower lash line for setting an eye shadow base. I have used Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer. Blend the primer well with your fingers.
Step 2: Apply a cream base in purple on your eyelids. You can use an eyeliner as well. I have ELF creamy eyeliner in punk purple. Apply the base only on your mobile lids as shown in the picture. Apply the same eyeliner to the lower lash line as well.
Step 3: Blend the purple base with a brush. Do not exceed the mobile area while blending as well.
Step 4: Apply a dark purple on the mobile lid and on the lower lash line. I have used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Deep Grape.
Step 5: Apply a medium purple eye shadow on the crease, while blending the edges of the previously applied dark purple shade. I have used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Vibrant Plum. Also, blend the lower lash line with this medium purple shade.
Step 6: Apply a soft purple eye shadow on the upper crease area. I have used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Orchid. Use this shade as a transition shade to blend the crease shade.
Step 7: Now the fun part starts. Take a crease brush and blend the lid and the crease shade so that there is no line visible.
Step 8: Take a clean fluffy blending brush and blend the transition shade across all the edges of the eye.
Step 9: You will find that the blending will take away some color from the shade. Apply more and keep on repeating steps 7 & 8 till you are satisfied. You should have a continuous flow of color from dark to medium to soft purple without any line visible.
Step 10: No smoky look is complete without a black shadow. I have used Wet N Wild Single Eyeshadow in Panther. Apply the black shadow towards the outer lash line and taking it up slightly. Blend it nicely to smoke up the look.
Step 11: Apply a white eyeshadow to highlight your brow bone. I have used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Cloud White. This matte highlight is important as the other shades are quite deep and this contrast will define your eyes better.
Step 12: Apply a deep, blackened purple eyeliner in your waterline. I have used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Tornado.
Step 13: Apply a black kohl to the upper lash line. I have used Bourjois Khol & Contour eye pencil in Ultra Black.
Step 14: Smudge out the black kohl line on the upper lash line. This will give more edge to the look.
Step 15: Curl and apply mascara to your lashes. You can also apply falsies if you wish.
This is the final look.
Apply a light pink or nude lipstick, with subtle contouring and you are ready to rock. Happy Valentine’s Day gurls!!! 🙂
I have tried to keep the tutorial as simple as possible. Do try it and let me know how do you like it. Wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day! <3
