2014 had been a great year for me and 2015 is turning out even better. For once I am back on track as far as skin care goes…slowly but steadily. 🙂 I am being regular with my eye cream, my serums and my night cream which I almost ignored in the past year. I have finally mended my ways and Today I have the Nourishing lotus night cream from Iraya for you here.

My Experience with Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream:

Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream comes packaged in a similar glass jar like that of Iraya wheatgerm massage cream which is the typical packaging style for all Iraya products. It needs to be handled with care for travelling.

The cream is a dusty beige pink in color and has a thick consistency. The cream is thicker than most creams I have used and needs a little pressure to spread easily on skin. The cream makes you aware of its wax and oil content which is something not many people will enjoy. However I have always liked ayurvedic and natural formulations so its not an issue for me.

With a little pressure the cream kind of melts and spreads evenly. However the formula is easy to go overboard with. Since this nourishing lotus night cream is high on natural oils and wax you need to be careful with the amount or it may feel too heavy and greasy after application.

Of course it is a moisture replenishing cream for dry skin, so the texture is kind of expected. If you have oily skin, you do not need this at all. So don’t cringe at the mention of words like oily, greasy and heavy. 😛 If you are wondering why I am using a cream meant for dry skin then let me clarify- I have combination skin that goes very dry in winters. Nothing in my skin care stash was good enough for the dryness in my skin  hence I opted for this night cream that is heavy on natural oil.

Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream Application Tips:

The best way to use is would be to take out a pea sized amount on your palm, rub it using both palms and apply all over your skin. Repeat if you need more! It takes a while to get accustomed to the amount, but once you do, it becomes a habit and not something you need to be careful about.

Dotting all over the face and blending with fingers always made me use a little too much than necessary and I ended up with a oily face and heavy feeling about it. now that I am used to the above mentioned trick, I haven’t faced that problem again. Also it helps in absorption with palm better because of the thick texture of the cream. 🙂

As you can see from the above picture, it makes an immediate difference by making your skin look healthy with that hint of oil. If you have dry patches, then it takes 2 to 3 days to heal them completely. Though there is no immediate effect on skin the morning after, with regular usage, I wake up to a well taken care of, well moisturised skin that is not dry or stretchy. These days I wake up to an oily T-zone due to the rise in temperature, but that does not bother me as I anyways wash my face immediately after waking up. Even after being oil based Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream has not broken me out and that is the reason I am still using it even though I don’t have to. I know I am going to stop though cause I am bored with it now and have 4 night creams waiting for their turn. 😛

The 50 gm jar has been with me since January. Even though I am quite regular with its usage, I still have enough to last me another month. 3-4 months of usage for that price is very cost effective in my opinion.

Honestly I haven’t noticed any major difference in my skin except for the way it hydrates skin from within. However I had recommended this to one of my friends who has very dry skin and I have noticed tremendous improvement in her skin texture. Her fine lines do not look as deep as earlier, skin is smoother in appearance and overall she looks fresher than before.

For me it is essentially a hydrating night cream that takes good care of skin’s dryness and dry-patches.

My Rating: 3.65 out of 5

My Recommendation: Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream is a nice, intensely hydrating night cream that helps replenish lost moisture effectively. I haven’t noticed any major effects on me, but have seen it work wonders on my friend who is in her mid-thirties and has extremely dry skin. If you have dry / extremely dry skin then you can definitely give Iraya Nourishing Lotus Night Cream a try. For those who face dry skin issues in winters can give this a try as well. 🙂
