MAC By Request Matte Lipstick “Glam” Swatch, Review and LOTD
Mac Glam lipstick is a part of Mac by request collection launched last year in USA. There were total 4- 5 lipstick shades, but the most in demand shade were MAC Glam and MAC Hoop. Although this collection didn’t launch here in India, but somehow I managed to get hold of MAC Glam for myself. It has been a while since then due to the short break I took from blogging, but finally here is what I think about MAC By Request (spring 2014) Lipstick- “GLAM”.
What MAC Claims: Hundreds of thousands of MAC Fans voted for their favorite rare shades of Lipstick, Lipglass and Eye Shadow from the 90s. Now is your chance to get them before they disappear forever – along with new matching Lipglass! Available only online while supplies last.
Price: $16 USA excl.tax. I paid INR 1600/- for this.
MAC By Request (Spring 2014) Matte Lipstick “Glam” Ingredients
My Experience with MAC Matte Lipstick “Glam” :
MAC Glam is described as a “vivid, bright pinky-red with matte finish. I find it medium dark pinkish red which has strong cool tone to it. MAC glam reminds me of MAC Red from permanent line but a tad bit darker in comparison. Although the shade is matte, yet it is very creamy and smooth on lips, it is neither drying nor hydrating. The bullet looks lot warmer but it has a very strong cool pink undertone which can be easily detected on lips. It does has a subtle sheen to it for first 2 hours of application.
The packaging is normal just like regular line of MAC lipsticks. The pigmentation gives richest of the shade, highly pigmented and gives opaque coverage in single pass. Looks super sexy with or without eye makeup, for me it is always a bold lips no eye makeup look with MAC Glam. 😉 It covers all pigmentation on the lips without altering the actual colour.

The texture is smooth and creamy despite being matte formula, slightly creamier than Retro matte lipsticks– it doesn’t dry out my lips or cling to lip lines. I find the texture slightly thinner and light weight than the retro lipsticks formulas. After 30 mints of application it sets into a matte finish and stays put without transferring. However too much of oily food may fade out the upper layer of colour leaving a strong pink tint behind.
MAC Glam lasts for 8 hours plus on me before fading, but the stain refuse to go even after removing it with makeup remover. I just want to say that each time I wear this shade, I fall in love with it. <3 So pretty it is!!
Pros of MAC Glam Lipstick:
- The shade is vivid red with strong pink undertone to it.
- Love the shade mostly b’coz it’s the shade is unique and new to me.
- Perfect for Night outs, bold lips nude eyes 😀 my best combination!!
- Love the texture and the formula. Creamy and smooth on lips, set to retro matte after 30 mints of applications.
- Stay put for almost 8 hours and leaves a strong pink tint.
- Excellent pigmentation, gives opaque coverage, glides on smoothly.
- It is neither drying nor hydrating.
- MAC Signature Scent.
- Reds are never odd, Mac trying to bring new shades, mixing new colours in every collection.
Cons of MAC Glam Lipstick:
- Wish it comes in different packaging.
- Limited Edition, which makes it unavailable currently.
My Recommendation: Red lipsticks are pretty hard to wear. They are not for everyone, neither it is an everyday shade, but once tried you swear by it. If you love red lipsticks then MAC Glam is a must have. It is a very beautiful cool tone blue based pinkish red which leans more towards a red on full application, but turns pink when it fades . It is certainly unavailable currently but MAC Red is very close to it in case you wanna check. 🙂
Review by Sushmita
[alert-note]Ahh! It does remind me of MAC Red like you have correctly mentioned. Love the finish on your gorgeous pout so much Sushmita. <3 I think most lipsticks work on your complexion really well. I am definitely trying out MAC Red next weekend. ^_^ Beautiful lip swatches. :*[/alert-note]
