L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation – Usage and Look

L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation has already been reviewed on the blog and I wasn’t planning on doing another post until I used this with a damp sponge a week back. I feel there is a lot more to this powder foundation than a compact and hence here I am with a post explaining how this can actually replace the need of a foundation when applied correctly. <3

To know more about this newly launched powder foundation, you can follow the link above. If you like multitasking with your products and getting the most out of them, then this post is for you. 🙂 The shade I have with me is 225 Beige which is 2 tones lighter than my skin tone. So it does look pale and off on me in the pictures. But I was really surprised to see the finish to be so natural even when it was clearly not my shade. L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation is definitely the one to go for if you know you are getting clicked. 🙂

L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation As a Compact

As Agnirupa has explained in the review, L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation is a great compact on top of your foundation, concealer, BB cream or on its own for that matter. You can either use a powder brush (my preferred method) or the sponge provided. The sponge provides medium coverage on its own but the result looks a little powdery to naked eye. Hence its best to opt for a powder brush for a even, thin, satin finish.

You can refer the picture below (left) where I have applied L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation as a compact on top of my moisturiser. No concealer, no foundation. Just the compact dusted lightly over my face with a powder brush.

As mentioned already, please ignore the shade mismatch. You can clearly see the difference. The sheer-medium coverage , dark circles mildly evened out, spots still visible, but lighter than before and the matte finish.

L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation As a Foundation

I have used dry to wet foundations before, but I can say for sure that the formula of L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation is much better for wet application if I have to compare. By wet application I have to make it clear that you do not really use a dripping wet sponge. What you do it keep the sponge in running water for a minute. Squeeze the excess water out and then use it to apply foundation directly from the pan. While usage of the sponge gives a powdery look when dry, the damp sponge technique mellows it down and the finish comes out much better and well put together.

Its a good idea to keep few pointers in mind when you are applying a powder foundation with a damp sponge.

  • Squeeze out excess water from the sponge
  • Always apply in a downward motion in the direction of hair growth
  • Do not drag the sponge, rather pat and stipple
  • Pat the damp brush all over your face in stippling motion once you are done with the application for a even no-streak look

You can refer the picture below (right) where I have applied L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation as a foundation on top of my moisturiser with the help of the damp sponge. Again no concealer, no other base, just the compact with a damp sponge for more coverage.

The difference is a bit more obvious now due to the heavy coverage. Coverage is heavy , dark circles almost invisible, skin tone very even, spots barely visible and a cleaner even matte skin.

The color difference is very clear with half face application, but to really make you see how natural it looks, I went ahead with full face application and here is the final look. 🙂

No other base makeup is used except for L’Oreal Infallible Powder Foundation. And for those who are curious, that’s “Pure Amaranthe” from the collection star range on my lips. 🙂

Yes the sides near my jawline looks a little ashy, but then its not my correct shade. With the right match it is going to be a great multitasking product for many. I mean who likes to layer a lot of products if one can suffice? Also this L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation does not oxidise at all unlike the Infallible Liquid Foundation, so you should match the shade to your exact skin color. As far as I am aware there are 4 shades available in India and not too many options for dusky and dark skin tones which is a shame cause the formula is really nice.

For removal, you have to use a makeup remover that you use for longstay makeup, cause L’Oreal Infallible 24Hr Powder Foundation is wash proof and stays fresh for as long as you want it to. 🙂 The finish on my combination skin is very matte, so a moisturiser beneath is must. if you have oily skin I would still ask you to wear a light moisturiser for even and easier application.

So that’s about it. I hope the post was helpful in showing you the other side of this wonderful powder foundation.

P.S: Please excuse my growing whisker. Just waiting for my next upper lips LASER session to happen. :X
