L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder Review- Shade N6 Nude Honey (For Wheatish Skin Tone)
All of you know that L’Oreal Paris launched a wonderful range of matte powder compacts a while back. I have already shown you all the shades available along with the swatches. If you haven’t been through that post I would request you to do that before proceeding cause I will only be focusing on other details today and for the particular shade N6- Nude Honey that is the perfect match for my wheatish skin tone. 🙂 Okay, I did say G2 was a better match in my previous post, but it seems I have gone a shade dark in the last 2 months. (Don’t ask me how :-|, I noticed after a couple of people commented on it. :/ ) Anyway, the good point is, I have a shade that matches my current skin tone and here I am with the review. If you have a skin tone similar to me, try N6 Nude Honey and G2 Golden Ivory both to see which one is a better match. 🙂
Price: INR 399/- for 6 gms
What it says:
My Experience with L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder N6 Nude Honey :
The packaging is girly and cute with 2 compartments housing the compact in one and the applicator on the other. A round mirror is provided in the bottom compartment which is more than enough for emergency touch ups as and when necessary. 🙂
The outer cartoon has ingredients listed along with the shade name printed on it. The quantity i.e 6 gms is on the lower side considering the thick consistency of the powder. I am not sure if this will last more than a month if used regularly everyday. I wish L’Oreal had packed atleast 10 gms in there. But again considering the price tag of 399/- for a L’Oreal product… I can’t complain much. O:)
The sponge applicator is of good quality and does not feel scratchy on skin. The best way to use mat magique transforming powder is to dab it on skin gently using the provided applicator. It deposits product evenly on skin and gives maximum coverage in one single layer. Dragging it on skin may give you streaky finish. The only con of the sponge would be hygiene and the fact that it soaks up a lot of product.
I have also used it with a powder brush and feel that is the best way to go if you have only minor redness and pigmentation to cover. Also if you are using a liquid foundation beneath, then you can use this as a setting powder with a fluffy powder brush. If you need coverage and prefer powder to cream or liquid foundation then L’Oreal mat Magique Matte Transforming Powder is the product for you. 🙂
The pigmentation as I have already mentioned in the previous post is awesome. The powder is thick and gives almost full coverage when used with the sponge. The finish is completely matte. Personally I do not like a total matte face and such heavy coverage, so what I do is apply it with a sponge in dabbing motion all over my face and neck and then use a powder brush to brush off the excess for a more natural finish. In the below picture, I have used it over a moisturizer without any concealer for under eyes or my pimple spots. It covers redness, fresh pimple marks and spots amazingly well as you can see. With a concealer the result would be even better. 🙂

L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder N6 Nude Honey On My Wheatish Skin Tone
L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder controls shine really well. In the above picture i have used a highlighter lightly on my T zone and cheek bone to avoid a flat matte look. But if you have oily skin and prefer the complete matte look, you can go ahead with full coverage and skip highlighter over your T zone.
L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder has an impresive staying power too. It stays on for 5 hours easily. It does start fading after the initial 3 hours, but never leaves your face completely void. If you are more concerned about keeping your face matte, then you will have to touch up after 2-3 hours, because after those initial hours face starts getting the natural dewiness (which I really like). Of course with oily skin you may not like that shine, hence touch up would be the best option for you.
My Rating: 4 out of 5
My Recommendation: Personally I am not a fan of the flat matte look, but L’Oreal mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder is very versatile in that sense. You can buff up with a powder brush for a natural look and use the sponge for a full coverage complete matte finish. It can be used as a setting powder, as an oil controlling compact and as a medium-full coverage matte foundation which makes it a great choice for people with combination and oily skin. Definitely worth a try. 🙂
