My Take on NARS Dual Intensity Eye shadow Subra :
I’m here with another NARS Dual Intensity eye shadows which released last year but I was little late to join the fan club as I mentioned in my previous post . Anyways, it’s never too late to try new products or old and get the addiction started. I absolutely love the shadows and try to incorporate more and more as they are so rich in pigmentation.
Shade: NARS SUBRA is described as Black Orchid, it is warm toned deep dark burgundy brown shade with visible black undertones to it, the shade is soft and muted and kind of easy to apply and work with.
Texture: The texture is same as the previous one, soft, buttery smooth with soft pearly finish to it like you can see in swatches here. It is very finally milled and there was practically no fall out when I used this flat shader brush.

Pigmentation: The shadow is deeply pigmented and doesn’t need much layering, it is mostly opaque in single wash, and another layer adds more evenness. These eye shadows can be used wet or dry but in look here, I have used this dry in combination with NARS PHOEBE on inner lids and you can see the difference between these 2 easily.
Staying power: The staying power with good primer underneath is somewhere between 7 – 8 hrs and there is minor fading after that. They can be used without primer but I find a base gives richer look.
Packaging: NARS eye shadow comes in a small rubberized black pan with mirror inside, it is very small and dainty to handle.
NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Subra On my Eyes
Pros of NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Subra:
- I adore the deep dark burgundy shade which is very versatile.
- The staying power is great.
- The shadow doesn’t fade easily.
- The pigmentation is bang on!
- The finish is great even if used dry and if used wet, it is more intense.
Cons of NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Subra:
- It’s not easily available in India.
- The price is little too steep for a single shadow.
Recommendations: This is my second shade from the same range and you can guess that I am addicted to this as well, like NARS Audacious Lipsticks. This particular shade “Subra” is very versatile and something you will use more often.
Review by Rashmi
[alert-note]Wow! I love that eye makeup Rashmi. <3 In pan the colour looks similar to Phoebe, but they are definitely different. I like this better due to the obvious black tinge. Perfect for smokey eyes. 🙂 [/alert-note]
