Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” Swatch, Review And Price
Hello ladies. Finally the Lakme 9 to 5 lip and cheek colors that I got myself are getting reviewed…. After 3 and a half months. 😛 Those who follow me on instagram must have gone through my long rant around mid december. For those who don’t, please do?! (: 😛 Jokes apart, here is the story!
Me before trying Lakme Matte Mousse Lip and Cheek Color : So much hype around it :/ Lemme just try one! Orders #blushvelvet and forgets. Package gets delivered. Me after trying it out: O M G :O speechless! After a day: Love this <3 Should I order one more 😕 Next day: Okay I need more of these in my life. lemme chk out the swatches again! And next day: Goes through swatches again, browses through Amazon and Jabong 100 times. Everyday since then: God! Its so confusing. #Coffeelite or #Rosetouch!! Are they too similar to blush velvet? What about that fuchsia. Or That red may be?
A chance encounter with Lakme counter at the supermarket: Its Rose touch. Finally! Yayeeeee! Wait! #PlumFeather looks gorgeous. <3 Mom rolls her eyes, tells me I already have 1000 red lipsticks -_- knowing too well its going to fall on deaf ears. 😛 *story ends*
So that’s how I got myself 3 of these beauties. Considering how little makeup I use since past 2 yrs, that is a shock for me! Guess am getting back in groove. 😉 To new beginnings and hopefully an amazing next year! ^_^ #Rant #lakme ##lakmemousselipandcheekcolor #MousseLipColor #MousseCheekColor #Lip&CheekColor #mattemousselipstick #mattelips #mattemousse #Lakme9to5 #Makeup #newlaunch #MakeupRant
I needed to share that story, cause these mousse lip and cheek colors have a special place in my makeup stash and heart. The reason being, these are the products that inspired me enough to break out of my self imposed hiatus which I was trying so hard to break in the first place, but was not able to for 1000 reasons. (struggles of a new mom I tell you 😐 )
I also wanted to club the 3 shades (Blush Velvet , Rose Touch & Plum Feather) together, but I had already clicked these pictures the day this baby arrived in my mail. Yes, I was so excited after trying this out. 😀 So, we will go through Blush velvet alone in this post. The other two will be reviewed soon. 🙂 Its really an irony that this was not my come back post. Anyways, let’s go through the details like we always do. Please welcome Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” . 😀

Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” Review:
Packaging of these matte mousse lip and cheek color is typical to the Lakme 9to5 range of products. A beige body and rose gold screw cap. It looks fine, but tough to handle if you own more than one shade. Cause there is no other way than to check shade names on the bottom when you are looking for a particular color. Also there is absolutely no way to find out how much product is left in there. A transparent body would have been so much better, but they must have thought the 9to5 theme to be more important. O:)
The heart shaped applicator of these matte mousse lip and cheek color does complete justice to the mousse like formula by spreading product evenly on lips, It picks enough color to coat both the lips on one go. However for this particular Blush Velvet shade, I prefer layering it once more for more depth. 🙂
The shade “Blush Velvet” is a blush pink as the name suggests with a velvet matte finish. <3 The earthy tone it has makes it a very apt colour for us warm toned Indians. It may wash out dusky beauties though. Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” is best suited for medium and fair skin tone. Personally this is my favorite from the 3 that I own and that is because of how versatile the shade is. Blush Velvet goes with everything you have in your wardrobe, any occasion and looks effortlessly classy (both on lips and cheeks). 🙂

- Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Burgundy Lush” Swatch and Review
The texture is wonderfully soft like whipped cream and rightfully has “Mousse” in its name. The consistency is thin and it applies evenly on lips. “Blush Velvet” has the thinnest formula if I compare with “Rose Touch” or “Plum Feather”. It reminds me a lot of NYX soft matte lip cream It layers evenly without looking patchy. However it sticks to fine lines after a while. Thankfully the color is such that it does not get highlighted in a bad manner. So if you have dry lips, but are still tempted to try these, get blush velvet. 😉
Pigmentation is superb. One layer of Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” covers any level of lip pigmentation. <3 Finish as the name suggests is matte, but not a completely dry matte. It has a velvety texture and feel on lips. Feels absolutely lightweight and does not dry lips any further. However this is not consistent across the range.
On cheeks, this Weightless Matte Mousse “Blush Velvet” is easy to blend and imparts such a natural healthy soft glow. <3 Unlike certain cream blushes, this does not feather and does not leave your cheeks shiny or oily. I usually pot 3 dots on my cheek bone and blend it with a blush brush for an even and precise application. This sets quickly and doesn’t buzz.
Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” lacks in longevity. It stays on for maximum 3-4 hours on me. Of course with drinks and snacks in between, but I was expecting it to be really amazing in that aspect, so a little disappointed there. The color starts fading from inner rims, but this particular shade does not make it look bad. So you can get away without any touch up. Every Time I have worn this shade, I come back to almost bare lips with a blush pink tint that looks as if I have nothing on them but on close observation the color is still there but not as obvious and fresh. On cheeks the color stays better….for around 5-6 hours before fading.

BTW, the above picture was taken around the time I started using Avene Triacneal . So you can refer it as a before picture. I do have a sheer coverage foundation and a compact on, but no concealer. So you can guess the extent of damage my skin had gone through. I will be sharing recent pictures in upcoming reviews or you can just go through my most used makeup post to see how my skin looked a week back. 🙂
My Rating: 4.5/5
My Recommendation: Wholeheartedly yes! The formula is wonderful, the shade too pretty to ignore and is so wearable that you will end up using it the most. The fact that it can be doubled up as a blush makes this multi tasker a hit with busy women. Yes, it does not last as long as I wanted it to, but 4 hours of wear is decent and a touch up can get you more hours of wear easily. Definitely try Lakme 9to5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color “Blush Velvet” if you adore matte lip colours. As for the other colors, wait for my review. ^_^
