The Tarte Tarteist™ Creamy Matte Lip Paint “TBT” Swatch and Review
Hola ladies! Today’s review is about one of my favourite lip products. Even though I own insane number of lipsticks (blame my job), I usually end up wearing only a handful of them. Ever since I got hold of these Tarte lip paints, I haven’t given other lipsticks a chance. I got two of these together and both of them have made it to the top for me. I will be reviewing the neutral shade today which is named “TBT“, which must stand for “Truth be Told” 🤔. But truth be told, the first thing that came to my mind was “Throw Back Thursday” 😝and I was like Why! 🙊 Social media addiction does that to you. 😝
Anyways, coming back to the review, let’s focus on this gorgeous Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint .

My Experience With Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint “TBT” :
I love matte lip colours. They do end up drying out my lips when worn consecutively for days on, but I still can’t get enough of them. So I always keep looking for matte lip colours that are less drying. I had wanted to try the tarteist matte lip paints for a while now, so decided to pick two from the creamy matte lip paint range. I am going to try the quick dry matte lip paints too,but wanted these creamy variants to be my first. 😊
Tarte tarteist creamy matte lip paints come in a regular lip gloss packaging. The flat doe foot applicator works amazingly with the soft mousse velvety texture of the lip paint. It picks up enough lip paint to cover my lips opaque in one single swipe. Even with the creamy texture, it helps define lips really really well.
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint “TBT” is a mauve brown that may not actually pass off as a neutral for fairer skin tones, but on my medium Indian skin tone, it looks very natural and flattering for a mauve brown. The color darkens one tone after application, hence is suitable for most skin tones.
Pigmentation is amazing. “tbt” goes completely opaque on one swipe. I still like to wear two layers though. The texture is very similar to Lakme matte mousse lip and cheek color but thicker and creamier in comparison.
The fluffy mousse like formula does not set completely even after hours. It stays creamy, hence is prone to transfer. However it does not transfer as crazily as creamy lipsticks. It stays on for around 5 hours when I am not eating or drinking much. With meals in between it starts fading from the centre. So you must carry it along if you are going to stay out for long. Personally it doesn’t bother me much and I don’t feel the need to touch it up.
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint “TBT” has that velvety soft matte finish I absolutely love. It does not settle into lip lines, but does make them appear prominent after around 4 hours of wear. The formula does not feel drying or heavy, however my lips always feel dry the next day. If you have uncomfortably dry lips, it’s better to stay away from these tarteist lip paints.
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paints have a strong minty fragrance that I adore. It even has that cooling sensation to go with it. My lips tingle for a minute or so after application, but thankfully it is not unpleasant. I actually like that feeling.
Overall If I have to compare these to Lakme matte mousse lip and cheek colors then I would say the Tarte lip paint formula is more comfortable on lips . That does not mean Lakme’s formula is uncomfortable. I just mean this is comparatively less drying as it does not set completely. It also stays on for a couple of more hours in comparison to the lighter shades in Lakme matte mousse range. Honestly I had no idea these Tarte creamy matte lip paints would be so similar to Lakme Matte mousse lip and cheek colors and I was pleasantly surprised because of this. Even though this post is a review of Tarte lip paints, I would like to appreciate Lakme for delivering such an amazing formula at that price. 🙂 NYX soft matte lip creams have a similar formula too, but they are very thin and feel a little oily while application. Also they are way too drying after setting in.

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Recommendation: Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint “TBT” is a beautiful neutral mauve brown that will suit most Indian skin tones. The soft velvety matte finish coupled with the comfortable formula makes it a perfect choice for matte lipstick lovers. I just wish it had a better staying power cause most most matte liquid lipsticks with similar price tag stay much longer in comparison. Still, this one is too beautiful a colour to ignore. Definitely try this out if you have access to Tarte Cosmetics. 🙂
