After finishing a bottle of Vichy Normaderm Purifying pore- tightening lotion , I wanted to try some other toner for my problematic skin . So , I thought I should try this “La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion” which is also a highly raved about and recommended product for oily acne prone skin . I purchased this in August and have finished my bottle now , so sharing my thoughts in the review today.

My Experience with La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion:
La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion comes in a basic , clear/see through plastic bottle packaging with a white colored flip cap . The consistency of this astringent is thin , runny and almost water like . It has a strong smell primarily of alcohol content in it , which fades after a few seconds . I take some amount of this lotion on a damp cotton pad and wipe my face with it . I like how well it manages to deep clean the skin . Even after thorough face cleansing , I can notice some amount of dirt on the cotton pad . Initially , the Astringent also stings the skin but the sensation eventually subsided after a few days of usage . The stinging sensation is because of the Chemical Exfoliants present in the astringent . I have extremely sensitive skin but my skin could easily handle the sensation and It never left my skin irritated . Also , I have mostly used this Astringent Lotion only for my PM/night time skincare routine , so one bottle easily lasted me around 4 months .
When I had started using this La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent Lotion my skin was in pretty decent condition and I could hardly notice any effect on my skin after incorporating this in my skincare routine . So , I decided to skip it for a few days and used just normal rose water instead . After a Week I noticed an increase in whiteheads on my cheeks and blackheads on and around my nose . So , I restarted using this LRP Astringent and I within 2-3 days I noticed that my condition improved with less congested pores and decreased whiteheads . Around same time , my skin broke out after trying a new product . I kept using this Astringent regularly , twice a day (along with Spot treatment) and with a weeks time my skin was healed (which takes a lot more time otherwise ) . With Continued usage this Astringent also helped in improving my skin texture and some of my post acne marks have also gone lighter .
Overall , I am extremely impressed with the performance of this toner on my problematic , sensitive skin . I would undoubtedly repurchase this product and would also recommend it for Oily-Acne prone skin .
