New Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hr Full Coverage Foundation “36 Warm Sun” Swatch, Review and Demo
How are you all doing? I have been keeping really busy these past few weeks. My toddler just doesn’t like me working on a laptop and he is not sleeping much during the day. All I have done with my free time is singing on some karaoke apps. It surely is fun singing again after a decade! Any way, Today I have some time, so decided to review this newly launched (rather re-launched) Super Stay 24 Hr Full Coverage Foundation from Maybelline.
Price: AU$ 24.95
Maybelline Super Stay Foundation is priced slightly higher than the FIT Me! range(AU$ 19.95) , so you can expect the pricing to be somewhere around 700/- as and when it launches in India. )

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation “36 Warm Sun” :
Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hr Full Coverage Foundation comes packaged in a very nice see through container, white cap and a matching pump mechanism to dispense product. The pump works great with the formula and the cap shuts tightly with a click, so good enough for travel if you need to. I would personally recommend carrying any foundation in a separate pouch to be on the safer side though.
The shade I got myself is “36 Warm Sun” which is a good enough match for my NC 35 skin tone. It does look a tiny bit yellow-er, but honestly with my neutral undertone, most shades on either side of the spectrum (lighter and darker) either looked orange or pink on me.. If you have a strong yellow tone to your skin, you can check out “Golden”. However “Warm Sun” should be a nice fit for anyone around NC35-40 I feel. Another slightly lighter but close match was “21 Nude Beige”, but I find it easy to work around with slightly darker shades than slightly lighter shades. So if you have a similar skin tone to me, you know which shades to look for. 🙂 Maybelline has launched 14 shades in Australia and 16 in the US, so it covers quite a range of skin tones which is a good thing.
The texture of new Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation is very creamy. It spreads very easily on skin and is loaded with pigments. I have not used any of the previous Super Stay foundation variants to know the difference, but I quite like how this one feels on skin. Its not invisible, but does not feel heavy either. I can apply a thin layer or build it up as per my need and it performs well in all scenarios. I have been wearing it consistently every alternate day for the past month with different applicators, with primer, without primer and it has fared well under all circumstances. Personally I mostly use it with my fingers as I do not get time to do elaborate makeup most days. I do prefer the finish better when applied with sponge than my Sigma F80 Or 3DHD kabuki brush. The kabuki brushes tend to pack in a lot more product than I want at one go while with a sponge I have better control over how much product I want and to what coverage.
Coming to the coverage. It is insanely pigmented. I have not come across a more pigmented foundation in drugstore so far. One pump is all I need to cover all my flaws, but it is definitely build-able to an opaque coverage if that is your preference. Personally I find one layer of this Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation just perfect.
In the images below I have used my fingers to apply one thin layer of Maybelline Super Stay Foundation “36 Warm Sun” with only moisturiser, no primer and no other makeup on top except for lipstick.
As you can see, the finish is completely matte. In one layer it actually gives a soft velvety matte finish. On layering it looks flat matte and too heavy for me though not cake-y in any way which is again a great feature for anyone with major imperfections. With one thin layer, it looks very natural and evens out any redness and my acne marks look fairly concealed. Dark circles definitely look lighter and a concealer can be skipped by using an orange corrector underneath. I am talking about everyday foundation routine here. For special occasions, of course a concealer would be needed for best results unless you want to look flawless everyday.

Before and After Using Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation “36 Warm Sun”
The below images show Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation “36 Warm Sun” applied using a wedge sponge. One layer again. No concealer. Sephora Smoothing and Brightening Powder on top. Both images are taken on the same day post 2 hours of wear. Only the lipstick and lighting is changed.

As you can see the finish looks great on camera. I have tested it using flash as well and it looks fine on flash too as there is no SPF in this foundation. This is also something I like about this foundation. Using sunscreen during the day is fine, but you don’t really want your face to have a white cast in flash photography taken during special occasions such as weddings and receptions. This totally fits the bill.

Do notice, the burn mark on my wrist is concealed!
Now, I do have few concerns with this foundation. Being a totally matte foundation it highlights my fine lines on my forehead, under eyes and around the mouth. If I had oily skin, it wouldn’t have been a problem though. With a good dose of moisturiser and hydrating primer beneath it doesn’t cling to them immediately, but at the end of the day I can see it doing the same. I have normal skin that veers towards being dry now. So if you have extremely dry skin or have wrinkles, you should prep your skin very carefully.
The 24 hr claim is too much as we all know. It does stay and look fresh for a long long time. I have tested it for 9 hours so far and I see minimal fading, but it creases around my laugh lines (probably because that is the area that moves a lot) and my under eye lines definitely look prominent (which is an immediate effect no matter how much care I take before applying this). Other than that I haven’t noticed much difference. My nose gets a little shiny, but touch up with a compact takes care of it easily. If not for the creasing, I would still say it is the longest staying foundation I have tried so far. Just keep a compact handy for touch ups and you should be fine for another couple of hours. If you have oily skin then it may need touch up sooner though.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Recommendation: A definite yes! Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation is one of the best full coverage foundation I have tried so far. Even comparable to high end matte finish full coverage foundations. It does highlight fine lines, but being a matte foundation meant for oily skin, I do not hold it against the product. If you have imperfections that need more than medium coverage on everyday basis then Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation is a must try. It is easy on pocket and gives maximum coverage. Highly recommend this to everyone. 🙂
